Summary and responsibilities

Role overview

Summary

As the first dedicated data hire, this role involves owning the complete data system from raw data to trusted decisions, sitting between product and engineering. Responsibilities include making company metrics trustworthy, building reliable product usage models, and owning the data platform in production. The role requires partnering with Product Engineers to understand user behavior and improving product instrumentation.

Data Platform and Analytics Engineer - Langdock

Langdock is an AI platform used by more than 10,000 companies to securely access leading AI models, build agents, and automate workflows. With more than $40M ARR, Langdock is building a trusted AI platform for European enterprises while maintaining strong control over data, models, and deployment environments.

About the Role

As Langdock's first dedicated data hire, you will own the path from raw data to trusted business and product decisions. Working between Product and Engineering, you will combine data engineering, analytics engineering, product analytics, and technical platform ownership.

Langdock already uses dbt on ClickHouse, with product, billing, and customer data ingestion, business-facing marts, and Metabase dashboards. Your role is to strengthen these foundations into a reliable, scalable data system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and model company metrics so teams have consistent, trustworthy definitions and understand their limitations.

  • Build reliable models of product usage covering activation, adoption, retention, feature usage, and customer health.

  • Own production data infrastructure, including ingestion pipelines, warehouse models, data quality checks, deployments, monitoring, and recovery processes.

  • Partner with Product Engineers to analyse product usage, evaluate changes, answer exploratory questions, and identify opportunities.

  • Improve product instrumentation by identifying data gaps and working with engineers to design reliable events and source data.

  • Support Account Management, Revenue, Finance, and leadership with dependable reporting and actionable data.

  • Build reusable marts, documentation, and dashboards that enable self-service analytics.

  • Establish standards for data modelling, quality, ownership, observability, and collaboration across Product Development.

What Makes This Role Different

This is not a dashboard-only analytics role or an infrastructure-only data engineering position. You will own the complete data system, from how product data is generated to how metrics are interpreted in business and product decisions.

Success in the first year could include:

  • Consistent definitions for key company metrics across Product, Account Management, RevOps, and leadership.

  • Product teams confidently using reliable data to understand customer behavior and adoption.

  • Production pipelines and models with clear ownership, testing, monitoring, freshness expectations, and recovery procedures.

  • Improved product instrumentation integrated into product development.

  • Recurring business questions answered through reusable models and dashboards instead of one-off analyses.

  • A clear technical roadmap for the evolution of Langdock's data platform.

Requirements

  • Experience building and operating production data pipelines and analytical models.

  • Ability to work across infrastructure, SQL modelling, exploratory analysis, and product or business requirements.

  • Strong understanding of data quality, metric definitions, and data ownership.

  • Experience with dbt, analytical databases, deployment systems, and business intelligence tools.

  • Strong investigative skills and ability to trace unexpected data back to underlying product or technical behavior.

  • Ability to turn ambiguous questions into clear definitions, reliable models, and actionable insights.

  • Motivation to take broad ownership and establish the foundations of a growing data function.

Work Environment

  • In-office position at Greifswalder Strasse 212, Berlin.

  • Existing right to work in Germany required.

  • Visa sponsorship is not currently available.

  • Collaborative in-person environment focused on shared context, trust, and fast decision-making.

Compensation

  • €90,000-€140,000 gross per year, depending on level and scope.

  • Equity included with all roles.

  • Compensation is tied to role level rather than individual salary negotiation.

  • Level is determined based on the scope of work and experience.

Langdock is the AI platform used by more than 10,000 companies to give employees secure access to the leading AI models, to build and share agents and to automate repetitive workflows. We have grown past $40M ARR while remaining a small team, and we care deeply about operating efficiently across the entire company. For many enterprises, Langdock is becoming the place where most of the net-new work is produced. As people and agents create more documents, analyses, decisions, and automations inside AI interfaces, the context and data behind that work accumulate within Langdock. This gives us the opportunity to earn a larger role in their technology stack by building a platform they choose to rely on.
