Sachin Bansal’s Navi Raises $100M from Prosus at $1.3B Valuation

Indian fintech startup Navi has raised $100 million from Dutch technology investor Prosus, marking the first institutional funding round for the eight-year-old company founded by Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal.

The investment values Navi at approximately $1.3 billion, according to people familiar with the transaction. The deal comes as Navi prepares for its next phase of growth and reportedly works toward a potential public listing in India.

Founded by Sachin Bansal in 2018 after his exit from Flipkart, Navi provides a range of digital financial services including payments, lending, insurance and mutual funds. Bansal has invested hundreds of millions of dollars of his own capital into the company since its founding as he has pursued a broader vision of building a technology-driven financial services business.

The Prosus investment is significant because Navi had largely relied on Bansal's own capital rather than institutional investors since its inception. The company had previously explored raising external funding at a valuation of around $2 billion in 2024, but that effort did not result in a completed institutional round at the time.

The latest investment is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Navi and Prosus have not publicly disclosed the detailed terms of the transaction.

Navi's business spans several areas of consumer finance. Its app offers digital payments through India's Unified Payments Interface, along with financial products such as loans, insurance and mutual funds.

The company's UPI business has also grown into a significant part of its consumer platform. According to data from the National Payments Corporation of India, Navi processed more than 947 million UPI transactions worth around Rs 48,318 crore in July 2026, placing it among India's largest UPI applications by transaction volume.

Navi's lending business is operated through Navi Finserv, which has more than Rs 13,000 crore in assets under management. The company has also said that it serves hundreds of millions of users across India and reached consolidated profitability in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.

Despite that progress, Navi's financial performance remains mixed. For the financial year ended March 2026, the company reported revenue of around Rs 3,091 crore, while its net loss increased to approximately Rs 466 crore.

The new investment comes at a potentially important point in Navi's corporate journey. The company is reportedly preparing for an initial public offering and is considering raising around Rs 3,000 crore through the listing. Navi had previously filed plans for a much larger $440 million IPO in 2022, but abandoned the plan the following year as market conditions weakened.

For Prosus, the investment also represents a bet on India's expanding digital financial services market. The investor has extensive exposure to technology businesses across India and other major markets, while Navi provides exposure to a fintech platform spanning payments, credit and other financial products.

The investment also brings Prosus into Navi's shareholder base at a valuation below the approximately $2 billion valuation the company had reportedly sought during its earlier fundraising efforts. If Navi proceeds with an IPO, its ability to demonstrate sustained profitability, scale its financial products and maintain growth in a highly competitive fintech market will become increasingly important.

For Navi, the Prosus investment provides its first major institutional capital while strengthening the company's position ahead of a potential public-market debut. The next phase will be focused on turning its large user base, payments scale and lending business into a more consistently profitable financial services platform.
