Job Description

About Williams-Sonoma India Technology Center

Williams-Sonoma India Technology Center is the technology hub for Williams-Sonoma, Inc., supporting global digital commerce, supply chain, enterprise platforms, and customer experiences across our portfolio of brands. The India Technology Center partners closely with global business and engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, and innovative platforms that serve millions of customers worldwide.

About The Team

The Merchandising Systems Product Management team is responsible for the technology platforms and tools that support the end-to-end product lifecycle across Williams-Sonoma, Inc. brands, from initial item intake and item setup through product enrichment, merchandising, and publication across all channels.

Our ecosystem includes Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Product Information Management (PIM), Digital Asset Management (DAM), Web Assortment Management (WAM), and downstream eCommerce systems. Together, these capabilities enable our brands to manage product information, content, and assets efficiently at scale for our customers.

By improving these technology solutions, we help WSI bring new product assortments to market faster, improve product and content quality, reduce manual effort, and respond effectively to evolving product, market, and customer needs.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join the Merchandising Systems team at our India Technology Center in Pune.

Web merchandising is at the heart of WSI's eCommerce business, shaping how millions of products are brought to life across our brands and digital experiences. Your initial focus will be Web Assortment Management (WAM), a major multi-year transformation replacing a legacy platform that has supported the business for more than 16 years. WAM will become the core platform for organizing, enriching, validating, reviewing, and publishing online assortments across WSI's eCommerce sites.

In this hands-on role, you will translate product strategy into well-defined capabilities and drive them through delivery and brand adoption. You will work closely with the Engineering team in Pune and partner with US-based Product, business, UX, Architecture, and Technology teams. A US-based Lead Product Manager will set overall WAM direction and priorities; within that direction, you will define requirements, make product decisions, manage dependencies, and drive assigned capabilities from concept through rollout.

A significant part of the role is helping brand users successfully adopt new WAM capabilities and processes. You will study current workflows, identify improvement opportunities, demonstrate new functionality, develop and deliver training, support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and guide users through the transition from legacy tools and processes.

WAM will be the primary focus as the platform is delivered, launched, and scaled. Over time, the role may expand to other enterprise merchandising and content platforms, including Digital Asset Management and Site Content Management.

You're Excited About This Opportunity Because You Will...

  • Own product execution for assigned WAM capabilities and workstreams, translating product strategy and priorities into detailed requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans.
  • Partner closely with the Pune Engineering team throughout the product development lifecycle, providing product context, resolving requirements questions, making trade-offs, and ensuring delivered solutions achieve intended business outcomes.
  • Develop deep expertise in WAM, online assortment management, and the workflows used by brand teams to manage product assortment and content at scale.
  • Partner with brand users and US-based Product and business stakeholders to understand current processes, pain points, workarounds, and requirements, and translate them into scalable solutions across WSI brands.
  • Partner with UX to translate complex business workflows into intuitive experiences for business users.
  • Work with Engineering and Architecture on platform capabilities, data models, integrations, validation and publishing workflows, and dependencies across PIM, DAM, image services, and eCommerce systems.
  • Translate abstract technical concepts and complex system behavior into clear product requirements, practical workflows, and solutions that business users can understand.
  • Identify risks, requirements gaps, edge cases, and cross-system dependencies early, and maintain a clear, actionable backlog that provides Engineering with the context needed for delivery.
  • Lead or support UAT, including scenario definition, business-user coordination, issue triage, and translation of findings into product improvements.
  • Drive business readiness and adoption through stakeholder engagement, workflow documentation, product demonstrations, training and enablement, rollout support, and ongoing feedback.
  • Measure product effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative feedback, including adoption, workflow efficiency, time to market, data quality, platform performance, and business-user satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual effort, improve data quality, accelerate new assortment introduction, and help the business respond more quickly to product and market updates.
  • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, scope decisions, and trade-offs clearly across US and India Product, Engineering, and business teams.

Why you will love working at Williams-Sonoma, Inc.

  • We're a successful, fast-growing company with an entrepreneurial vibe.
  • A technologically and data-driven business.
  • Competitive salaries and comprehensive health benefits.
  • We're at the forefront of tech and retail, redefining technology for the next generation.
  • We're passionate about our internal and external clients and live and breathe the client experience.
  • We get to be creative on a daily basis.
  • A smart, experienced leadership team that wants to do it right and is open to new ideas.
  • We believe in autonomy and reward taking initiative.

We're Excited About You Because...

  • You have 5+ years of Product Management, Technical Product Management, or senior business systems experience delivering technology solutions.
  • You have experience delivering complex enterprise platforms, internal business tools, or multi-system programs with significant workflow and integration complexity, in close partnership with Engineering.
  • You can translate business problems and workflows into detailed product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and scalable technology solutions.
  • You can balance business workflow and change-management responsibilities with abstract technical concepts, complex platform architecture, attribution and data models, integrations, and system behavior.
  • You have experience working with business operations users and driving change for enterprise tools or processes through stakeholder engagement, demonstrations, training, UAT, rollout support, and adoption.
  • You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills and can identify edge cases, evaluate trade-offs, and make decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • You communicate clearly and operate effectively across geographically distributed Product, Engineering, business, and leadership teams.
  • You hold a bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience.
  • You can work from our India Technology Center in Pune according to WSI's onsite and hybrid working requirements.

Technical Competencies Required

  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to engage meaningfully with engineers and architects on integrations, data models, system workflows, platform architecture, and technical trade-offs.
  • Ability to create clear product artifacts, including requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, prioritized backlogs, and delivery plans.
  • Understanding of enterprise platform integrations and upstream and downstream dependencies across product information, digital asset, content, image, and eCommerce systems.
  • Experience defining UAT scenarios, coordinating business validation, triaging issues, and converting findings into actionable product improvements.
  • Ability to define and track product success measures such as adoption, workflow efficiency, time to market, data quality, platform performance, and user satisfaction.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of retail, eCommerce, merchandising, product information, content management, or digital asset management.
  • Experience with platforms such as PLM, PIM, DAM, CMS/WCM, WAM, vendor portals, or merchandising systems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise platform modernization, legacy-system replacement, or multi-year transformation programs.

Why Join Williams-Sonoma India Technology Center

  • Our people-first and performance-driven culture means that we provide opportunities to grow and build a career, and invest in the well-being of our associates, including comprehensive benefits to support you and your family.
  • Scale and innovation of a Fortune 500 company combined with a high-ownership environment that empowers associates to make real impact.
  • Build and shape large-scale digital commerce and merchandising platforms serving millions of customers worldwide, working on systems that run at global scale.
  • Continuous learning environment with opportunities to work on cutting-edge technologies, AI-driven solutions, and large-scale technology challenges.
  • Hybrid work model designed for flexibility and collaboration, with two in-office days for team engagement.
