Job Summary

Purdue University College of Engineering invites applications for multiple tenured/tenure track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in biomedical-related robotics to strengthen its growing leadership at the intersection of robotics, engineering, and human health in our Indianapolis location. The candidate’s research focus should target areas where robotics, controls and autonomy impact the biomedical, medicine, and heath fields such as surgical robotics, active prostheses, self-driving labs for diagnostics, surgery and therapies, or rehabilitative systems. Tenured or tenure-track positions are expected to collaborate with an interdisciplinary group spanning Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering with active degree programs based in Indianapolis. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline by the employment start date. Early-career applicants should show evidence of initiating independent research, while mid-career applicants should demonstrate a sustained record of independent research within academic or industrial organizations, and contributions to education and/or mentoring. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels. The position would also enhance Purdue’s ability to attract major federal and industry-sponsored research, train students in a rapidly expanding field, and translate fundamental advances in robotics into technologies that address important biomedical and healthcare challenges.
