This role involves working as part of a team to prepare and deliver clean caging for facility use daily.
Position Summary
Performs daily cage sanitation, sterilization, and facility sanitation tasks to maintain animals housed in the Biological Resource Center (BRC) in compliance with regulatory requirements and department SOPs. Works as part of a team to prepare and deliver clean, sterilized caging and supplies for daily facility use.
Essential Duties
Cleans, sanitizes, and prepares clean and soiled caging and accessories in a timely manner in clean and dirty cage wash areas.
Safely operates cage wash equipment, including autoclaves, mechanical washers, bedding dispensers, and other facility equipment.
Performs daily maintenance of cage wash equipment and reports malfunctions to the supervisor.
Performs area and department sanitation activities.
Maintains accurate quality control records for cage wash and assigned areas.
Prepares clean and sterilized caging for facility use each day and for the following day's requirements.
Follows established traffic flow patterns to prevent cross-contamination.
Receives and stores incoming cage wash supplies and maintains clean, organized storage areas.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience: Prior work experience and AALAS certification at the ALAT level preferred. Experience working with animals in an animal research setting preferred.
Special Training, Certification, or Licensure: None required.
