Role overview
Summary
As an Associate in the Real Estate team, you will work on complex commercial development, urban renewal, and infrastructure projects. You will advise clients on acquisitions, disposals, leasing, and real estate aspects of M&A transactions, managing matters autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
Your Role
You'll be a part of our Melbourne based Real Estate team and work with lawyers across all of our offices. Working closely with our Partners and the wider team, you will gain exposure to the most complex and interesting transactions in the market. You'll have the privilege of advising clients from almost every sector and across all asset classes in real estate.
At Allens, our structure means you'll get exposure to a number of different Partners within your practice group and a wide variety of work. We encourage our lawyers to find their niche and specialise in areas they're interested in, while building a strong foundation across their field. Our focus on being 'in it together' will mean you are part of a team renowned for its supportive, motivated and collegiate culture.
As an Associate in our Real Estate team you will:
Work on significant commercial development, urban renewal and infrastructure projects, including commercial office towers, industrial facilities, build-to-rent projects, mixed use precincts and renewable energy projects.
Advise on acquisitions and disposals of assets of all types of property classes, including commercial, retail, industrial, residential and hotels.
Assist with sale and leaseback transactions.
Support matters involving tourist resorts and mixed-use developments and operation.
Advise on joint venture and co-ownership arrangements.
Manage leasing and lease negotiation.
Handle real estate aspects of M&A transactions.
Address general real estate issues such as subdivisions, enforcement of securities and financing.
This is a (permanent, full-time) opportunity. At Allens we have a hybrid working structure, typically 60% in the office and 40% from home. We would be happy to discuss any other flexible working arrangements that best support you.
About you
You will have:
Experience in a Real Estate team within a law firm (we are also open to a combination of private practice and in-house experience)
Experience in the acquisition, development and sale of real estate assets.
The ability to effectively manage matters autonomously and as part of a team.
A strong academic background.
A willingness to participate in business development activities, such as pitch documents, firm-wide pursuits, article writing, attending industry events and hosting seminars.
A desire to learn, grow, network, mentor others
