Summary and responsibilities

Role overview

Summary

This role is for an experienced Section Officer on deputation at the Wildlife Institute of India. Responsibilities include administrative, establishment, finance, accounts, and procurement work within a government framework, contributing to wildlife conservation and management.

Best-Fit Profile

This role is ideal for experienced government officers from Central or State Governments, UT Administrations, Public Sector Undertakings, or Autonomous Organizations who are currently holding an analogous post on a regular basis, or have at least 2 years of regular service in relevant pay levels. Candidates with a strong background in administrative, establishment, finance, accounts, or procurement work, who are looking for a deputation opportunity within a prestigious environmental research institution, will find this a suitable advancement.

Important Considerations

Private sector employees are not eligible for this deputation-based role. Candidates who do not meet the specified government service and experience criteria (e.g., lack of analogous post, insufficient regular service period, or inappropriate service level) should not apply. Those above 55 years of age as of the application deadline are also not eligible.

Career Impact

The Wildlife Institute of India is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India, offering a highly reputable and stable work environment. A deputation stint here provides valuable exposure to the intersection of administration and environmental conservation, enhancing professional credentials within the government sector. While a single vacancy limits promotional scope within this specific role, the experience gained is highly transferable within the broader government framework.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification

    • Central Government Officers: Must hold an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre/department, OR have 2 years of regular service in Pay Matrix Level-6 or above of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

    • State Government/UT/PSU/Autonomous Organization Officers: Must hold a regular post in corresponding grades.

  • Only officers/officials who have completed at least 5 years of government service may apply.

Age Limit Details

Candidates must be below 56 years of age as on the closing date for the application.

Salary & Pay Scale

The selected candidate will be placed in Pay Level-8 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, with a salary ranging from ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted in the prescribed proforma (as in Annexure-I) and sent by Registered Post, Speed Post, or By Hand to the following address:
