Job Summary

Osteen’s Load and Go
Leesburg, FL
Full-Time
Pay: $60,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience

About the Position

Osteen’s Load and Go is looking for a highly organized, motivated, and dependable Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our growing dumpster rental/trucking, and recycling company.

This is not simply a dispatcher position.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of daily operations, manage multiple moving pieces, solve problems before they become bigger problems, and keep our trucks, drivers, equipment, and schedules operating efficiently.

The Operations Manager will work directly with ownership and oversee the coordination between our drivers, yard, fleet, and office.

The right person should be able to walk in every morning, understand what needs to happen, build a plan, communicate that plan to the team, and keep the operation moving throughout the day without requiring constant direction.

Dispatch & Logistics

  • Manage daily dispatching of roll-off and hook-lift trucks.
  • Build efficient routes for deliveries, pickups, swaps, and other services.
  • Coordinate drivers, trucks, dumpsters, and customer schedules.
  • Adjust routes and schedules throughout the day when problems or changes arise.
  • Reduce unnecessary drive time, fuel usage, empty miles, and delays.
  • Plan ahead for the following day's workload.
  • Ensure scheduled jobs are completed and nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Communicate scheduling changes with drivers, yard personnel, and office staff.

Driver Management

  • Oversee drivers during daily operations.
  • Monitor employee hours and control unnecessary overtime.
  • Make scheduling adjustments to keep labor efficient.
  • Ensure employees are using company time productively.
  • Assist with driver training and onboarding.
  • Address routine attendance, performance, and operational issues.
  • Help enforce company policies and safety procedures.
  • Report significant or recurring employee issues to ownership.

Fleet Maintenance & Repair Management

  • Maintain accurate records for all company trucks and operational vehicles.
  • Track preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, mileage, and service history.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate repairs with mechanics, dealerships, and outside vendors.
  • Track trucks that are out of service and expected completion dates.
  • Review repair estimates and invoices.
  • Manage routine maintenance and repairs within an established budget.
  • Identify recurring mechanical problems or excessive repair expenses.
  • Work to reduce preventable breakdowns and unnecessary downtime.
  • Ensure trucks are safe, clean, presentable, and ready to work.

Fleet Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain organized vehicle and compliance records.
  • Monitor registrations, inspections, permits, insurance documents, and other required paperwork.
  • Track expiration and renewal dates.
  • Help ensure company vehicles meet applicable DOT, state, and local requirements.
  • Immediately address missing, incorrect, or expired documentation.
  • Maintain records so required documentation can be quickly located when needed.

Budget & Cost Control

The Operations Manager will be expected to understand that efficiency directly affects the profitability of the company.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring maintenance and repair spending.
  • Controlling unnecessary overtime.
  • Identifying inefficient routes or unnecessary trips.
  • Monitoring operational expenses.
  • Reviewing repair invoices and estimates.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce operating costs without sacrificing safety or customer service.
  • Reporting significant expenses or budget concerns to ownership.

Office & Customer Support

We operate as a team, and management is expected to help where needed.

The Operations Manager will:

  • Assist the office with overflow phone calls during busy periods.
  • Help resolve scheduling and service issues.
  • Communicate operational changes to office personnel.
  • Assist with customer concerns involving deliveries, pickups, drivers, or scheduling.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, employees, vendors, and management.

Yard & Equipment Coordination

  • Work closely with the Yard Manager regarding dumpster and equipment availability.
  • Monitor available dumpster inventory.
  • Coordinate yard needs with the daily trucking schedule.
  • Help ensure the company does not schedule more work than available trucks, drivers, or equipment can reasonably handle.
  • Communicate upcoming operational needs with yard personnel.

What Success Looks Like

Our Operations Manager should know what is happening within the operation without ownership having to constantly ask.

You should have a clear understanding of:

  • Where our trucks and drivers are.
  • What deliveries, swaps, and pickups remain for the day.
  • Which trucks are operational and which are down.
  • Why equipment is down and when it should return to service.
  • Which trucks have preventative maintenance approaching.
  • Driver hours and potential overtime.
  • Maintenance and repair spending.
  • Upcoming vehicle paperwork, inspection, registration, or compliance deadlines.
  • Operational issues that could affect customers or the following day's schedule.

We want someone who identifies problems before they become emergencies.

Qualifications

Experience in trucking, logistics, fleet management, waste/recycling, roll-off dumpsters, construction, heavy equipment, transportation, or a similar operation is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience managing employees.
  • Experience with dispatching, logistics, or route planning.
  • Understanding of fleet maintenance and preventative maintenance.
  • Familiarity with DOT and commercial vehicle compliance.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively with mechanics and drivers.
  • Basic computer and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions without constant supervision.
  • A cost-conscious mindset.
  • Ability to remain calm when schedules change, trucks break down, or employees call out.

Compensation

$60,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

Performance-based bonuses may also be available based on operational goals such as:

  • Overtime control
  • Fleet uptime
  • Maintenance and repair budget performance
  • Preventative maintenance compliance
  • Dispatch efficiency
  • Safety
  • Customer service
  • Overall operational performance

Who We're Looking For

We are not looking for someone who simply waits to be told what to do.

We want someone who takes ownership.

Someone who looks at the schedule and asks:

What needs to happen next?

What could become a problem?

How can we make this operation more efficient?

Osteen’s Load and Go is continuing to grow, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company and become an important part of our management team.

If you have experience managing trucks, drivers, logistics, equipment, or a fast-moving operation and you're ready to take ownership of the day-to-day operation, we want to hear from you.
