Job Summary
The Cage Wash Technician is responsible for operating cage wash equipment to clean and sanitize animal cages, support equipment, and facility areas while ensuring compliance with laboratory animal care, safety, and regulatory standards. This role also supports equipment maintenance, inventory management, and quality assurance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Operate cage wash machinery to sanitize animal cages, equipment, and facility access areas.
Perform cleaning, maintenance, and decontamination of the cage wash facility and assigned work areas.
Conduct microbiological monitoring of cages and equipment; assess and report results.
Transport equipment and supplies to designated locations.
Maintain accurate logs and documentation, reporting discrepancies when identified.
Monitor inventory levels and replenish cage wash supplies as needed.
Inspect, operate, and troubleshoot equipment, reporting malfunctions or safety concerns.
Assemble cages with required supplies, bedding, food, and accessories.
Assist in training staff on standard operating procedures.
Follow institutional, safety, and regulatory requirements for laboratory animal care and facility operations.
