DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position plays a key role in raising pheasants for statewide release and assisting with daily game farm operations. As a Wildlife Maintenance Propagator, you will perform the following duties:
Brooder Preparation: Prepare brooder houses by cleaning, disinfecting, and setting up materials such as floor shavings
Bird Care: Maintain proper temperature, ventilation, lighting, feed, and water while observing bird behavior during all stages of development
Bird Handling: Perform tasks such as administering medication, sexing birds, trimming beaks, removing deceased birds, and loading birds for distribution
Facility Maintenance: Complete carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, and mechanical tasks to maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds
Equipment Service: Conduct preventative maintenance on trucks, tractors, and other mechanical equipment including replacing fluids, filters, and worn parts
Work Leadership: Lead Game Farm Workers and maintain daily operational records
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months propagation experience working at a breeding facility that produces a minimum of 1000 game birds, which includes skilled maintenance and trades work utilized in building construction and equipment maintenance and operation.
Special Requirement:
This position requires an active Pennsylvania driver's license, which is not under suspension.
Other Requirements:
You must meet the PA residency requirement.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
