Role overview

Summary

The Maintenance Worker performs skilled and unskilled activities for the operation and maintenance of the facility. This role involves making repairs, completing work orders, and maintaining various parts of the venue, including walls and equipment. The worker will also operate light power-driven equipment and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.

The Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of skilled and unskilled activities involved in the operation and maintenance of the facility’s general operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and make repairs to the venue as assigned.

  • Complete work orders in a well-established preventative maintenance system for the facility and all equipment.

  • Record and log all work performed, complete work orders, and compile all required reports in a timely and complete manner.

  • Maintain walls (interior and exterior) of the entire complex, including all drywall repairs, sanding, and repainting.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.

  • Serve as team representative for the Moody Center when scheduled as lead for assigned events.

  • Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, days, evenings, holidays, and extended (long) workdays for an extended number of days as needed.

  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scrubbing machines, or other light power-driven equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

  • 1-2 years of maintenance experience at a facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in stadiums, arenas, and/or convention centers is preferred.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use power tools and hand tools.

  • Understand the methods, principles, and practices required for the operation and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Familiarity with general maintenance operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility is preferred.

  • Understanding of door hardware, locks, key machines, door closers, etc.

  • Possess any licenses, certificates, or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operation of the equipment found in the facility.

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related materials.

  • Ability to follow and adhere to all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management, and emergency procedures.

  • Ability to operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scrubbing machines, or other light power-driven equipment.

  • Ability to operate monitoring controls and a personal computer (light use) using the 24/7 Work Order System Windows and Microsoft Office software e-mail.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights, and holidays as required.

  • Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
