Summary and responsibilities

Role overview

Summary

This role involves redesigning and simplifying Tableau dashboards, defining and iterating on KPI structures, and building lightweight insights cadences. The analyst will also establish scalable dashboard templates and develop deep domain knowledge in Payments Processing to proactively identify risks and opportunities.

The Payments tribe is at the heart of what SumUp does - processing payments for over 4 million small businesses across 37 markets. Within the Processing product family, the analytics function plays a critical role in helping product and engineering teams understand what's working, what isn't, and where the biggest opportunities lie. Right now, we have rich datasets and a growing analytical foundation, but the real challenge is turning that complexity into clear, trustworthy narratives that help people make faster, smarter decisions. This role aims to help us build a more resilient, scalable data culture within one of SumUp's most business-critical domains.

What you'll do

  • Redesign and simplify key Tableau dashboards so that non-expert stakeholders can answer "how are we doing?" and "why?" without needing analytical support

  • Define and iterate on KPI structures - establishing what to show, what to exclude, and how to sequence metrics so the story is immediately understandable

  • Build a lightweight insights cadence: recurring updates that interpret what changed, what it likely means, and what follow-up actions to consider

  • Establish scalable dashboard templates and self-serve patterns to keep reporting consistent and trustworthy as the team grows

  • Ramp into deep domain knowledge across Payments Processing to proactively surface risks, opportunities, and recommendations that shape product priorities

You'll be great for this role if you have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Tableau (or a comparable BI tool), backed by a portfolio that shows how dashboard complexity has been reduced through smart structure, drill-down design, and metric hierarchy

  • Solid SQL skills for analysis and validation, with comfort reading and writing queries independently across large datasets

  • Experience selecting and refining KPIs, including understanding tradeoffs, avoiding vanity metrics, and aligning metric choices to business goals

  • Excellent ability to translate ambiguous questions into measurable metrics and communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders

  • A product mindset when it comes to data — treating dashboards as something with an audience, a primary question, and a cognitive load to actively manage

Why you should join SumUp:

  • Opportunity to work with SumUppers globally on large-scale fintech products used by millions of businesses worldwide, from our modern Sofia office. This involves an office-first setup

  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: be part of a workplace that values and promotes diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's perspectives are respected and embraced

  • Enrolment onto our Virtual Stock Option programme: you will own a stake in SumUp's future success

  • A dedicated annual L&D budget of €2000 for your individual development, which you can use to attend conferences and/or advancing your career through further education

  • Generous time off: 25 days of paid leave, plus one extra day per year of service (up to 35)

  • Peace of mind: comprehensive health and life insurance — includes dental coverage

  • Stay active: on-site yoga and a co-sponsored Multisport card offering access to hundreds of sports facilities

  • Meal support: benefit from a tax-free food voucher programme (100 EUR monthly) plus flexibility via our Re:Benefits platform (40 EUR monthly)

  • Easy commute: free shuttle buses connecting directly to Joliot-Curie metro station

  • Family-friendly: new baby bonus

  • Break4me: 1-month sabbatical after 3 years of service

  • Referral Bonus: earn additional rewards by referring talented individuals to join the SumUp team
