Role overview
Summary
The Expert in Ecotoxicology will develop and implement regulatory strategies, procedures, and internal controls for new products requiring governmental approvals. This role involves preparing and submitting regulatory applications, coordinating with authorities, and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards. Key responsibilities include developing tools for regulatory risk assessment and delivering risk assessments for terrestrial vertebrates.
In this role, you will develop and implement regulatory strategies, procedures, and internal controls to support new products and business activities requiring governmental approvals. This includes preparing and submitting regulatory applications such as permits, licenses, certificates, and authorizations, as well as coordinating interactions with regulatory authorities and overseeing ongoing compliance activities. You will be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s activities are conducted ethically and in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Your Tasks And Responsibilities
Development of tools and approaches for regulatory risk assessment and relevant mitigation measures for Bayer crop protection products (conventional, biologics, and seed treatments) as part of the ecotoxicology expert community
Delivery of regulatory risk assessments for terrestrial vertebrates (birds and mammals) as a primary focus
Performance of risk assessments from Tier 1 up to higher‐tier levels
Creation and application of approaches for:
Benchmark Dose modelling and reporting
Time‑Weighted Average applicability assessments
Population modelling
Collaboration with specialists from other ecotoxicology areas (e.g. aquatic ecotoxicology) on cross‑cutting topics, such as:
Species Sensitivity Distributions
Assessment of mixture toxicity
Presentation of risk assessment results in regulatory dossiers
Dissemination of scientific methodologies, tools, and approaches used in risk assessments to the external scientific community
Who You Are
University degree in toxicology, ecotoxicology, environmental sciences or similar
Expertise in evaluating avian and toxicological studies
Hands-on experience with regulatory documents and regulatory report writing
Background in ecology with a focus on terrestrial vertebrates is a plus
Skills in R, Python, agentic AI or willingness to develop them is an advantage
Strong communication and collaboration in an international team
Expertise in BMD10 analyses and calculations and fTWA applicabilty
