Summary

The Research Associate will support the Nature Restoration and Conservation vertical, designing research methodologies, conducting data analysis, and implementing project activities. This role involves extensive field travel, community engagement, and collaboration with various stakeholders to promote sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and livelihood improvement initiatives.

About The Job

IORA Ecological Solutions (IORA), a leading climate and conservation-focused organization, is looking for a passionate and visionary “Research Associate” to assist and support all activities of the Nature Restoration and Conservation vertical at IORA. This is a fulltime position based at our HQ in New Delhi with need for long periods of travel to project locations across India.


Roles And Responsibilities

  • Design research methodologies, including secondary literature review and primary data collection on various aspects

  • Field travel to oversee and manage implementation of project interventions.

  • Statistical data analysis and preparation of reports to inform project design and activities

  • Support implementation of various project activities, especially sustainable agriculture, agroforestry and livelihood improvement initiatives.

  • Support in community mobilization and engagement to foster participation in project activities.

  • Facilitate organisation of workshops and capacity building trainings etc.

  • Work closely with different stakeholders (government and non-government) for convergence.

  • Contribute to project proposals and presentations and other project collaterals as required.


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Rural Development, Livelihoods or other related fields with 2 years of experience in working with rural communities in India.

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.

  • Understanding of community dynamics, cultural contexts, and the challenges faced by forest-dependent people.

  • Committed to working for improving the lives of marginalized communities and participatory natural resources management.

  • Knowledge of the major policies and issues impacting the conservation and management of natural ecosystems in India.

  • Excellent communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to extensively work in the field, travel and live in remote areas as per the requirement of different projects.
