Role overview
Summary
This Senior Ecologist role involves advising government bodies and organizations on Natura 2000 areas and related legislation. The position requires analyzing ecological data, preparing reports, and coordinating complex projects while acting as an ecological project leader. The successful candidate will contribute to nature restoration and protection within the Netherlands.
The future calls for frontrunners with a green heart. Are you a driven ecologist who enjoys advising on and guiding projects within the framework of Natura 2000 and area protection? Do you want to contribute to nature restoration and the protection of our precious nature reserves? Then we are looking for you! Within our team, there is room for your ambitions within the field.
In this role as an experienced ecologist, you are the link between policy and implementation. You advise government bodies and organizations on Natura 2000 areas and the associated legislation and regulations. You analyze ecological data and prepare reports. Within the projects, you coordinate collaboration with various stakeholders, build relationships with the parties involved, and organize the (environmental) processes.
In your work, you hold the role of ecological project leader. These are large, complex projects in which you switch between outlining the content and the directing role of project manager. You find solutions, know how to handle (substantive) uncertainties, and translate this into independent advice.
Your daily work at Sweco focuses on the obligations arising from the European Birds and Habitats Directives. You support our clients with (management) processes, achieving (conservation or improvement) goals, and conducting evaluations of Natura 2000 areas in the Netherlands. Additionally, you work with your colleagues on nature objective analyses, development plans, advice regarding the National Nature Network (NNN), landscape ecological analyses, or monitoring issues.
You connect colleagues; sharing your knowledge energizes you, and you possess strong coaching skills. You leverage your market knowledge to develop the team and our areas of expertise. In doing so, you demonstrate initiative and persuasiveness. You will be working with the Nature Development and Area Protection team. Ecology within Sweco is organized nationally, and team members work from various offices. At Sweco, you work in a dynamic environment where there is room to work on your (personal) development. And our team's core values are: collaboration, expertise, reliability, development, and humor.
