Summary

This entry-level Fish and Wildlife Technician position at the Lookingglass Hatchery involves performing essential daily tasks such as pressure washing ponds, feeding fish, and assisting with disease treatments and spawning. The role also includes general facility and grounds maintenance, requiring the operation of various hand and power tools.

Hiring one temporary position with anticipated duration of August 1, 2026 – November 15, 2026.


As a Fish and Wildlife Technician Entry at the Lookingglass Hatchery in Elgin, Oregon, you will:

  • Pressure wash and clean ponds

  • Feed fish

  • Remove mortality

  • Assist with administering disease treatments

  • Assist with spawning

  • Operate hand and power tools

  • Facility and grounds maintenance

This position requires acquiring an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Safety Education Card obtained through the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department within the first thirty days of appointment.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:

  • Experience with fish culture in a hatchery setting

  • Facility maintenance experience

  • Experience handling hand and power tools

  • Experience with grounds maintenance
