Summary

As Area Manager for Safari Europe & Africa, you are responsible for an operation where animal welfare, committed employees and memorable guest experiences go hand in hand. Here you will combine operational leadership with business development, collaboration and a fast pace – in an environment where no two days are the same.
About the role
As Area Manager, you have overall responsibility for Safari Europe and Safari Africa. You lead the operational activities with responsibility for budget, results and development, while creating the conditions for committed employees, high animal welfare and world-class guest experiences. You are a visible and present leader who builds strong teams and drives the business forward. You report to the COO for Animals, Research and Education.
In addition to this, you also ensure the right staffing, good safety work and a good working environment with a strong focus on safety routines and follow-up.
You will lead two direct reporting Shift Managers and a team of six permanent employees. During the high season, the business is expanded by approximately six seasonal employees. You will work closely with the COO, other Area Managers and other key functions in the park.

We are looking for someone who has:
Several years of experience in operational leadership with responsibility for operations, budget and results, as well as leading other leaders.
Experience in leading, coaching, recruiting and developing employees and leaders.
Experience in operational management, resource planning and business development.
Experience in developing guest experience and employee engagement supported by relevant key metrics.
Several years of experience in animal care and animal husbandry.
High school education in animal husbandry, animal care, hospitality, tourism or equivalent experience.
It is an advantage if you have:
Post-secondary education in leadership, management, business administration or equivalent.
Further education or certifications in leadership or operations management.
