Role overview

Summary

As a Senior Biologist, you will conduct fieldwork and mapping with a focus on fauna, and independently prepare species protection reports and faunistic planning area analyses. You will also lead projects, managing timelines and costs for planning and consulting projects, and support environmental planning tasks.

Your Tasks:

  • You conduct fieldwork and mapping with a focus on fauna, alone or in a team.

  • You independently prepare species protection reports (sAPs) and faunistic planning area analyses.

  • As a project lead, you are responsible for project management as well as schedule and cost controlling in planning and consulting projects.

  • Furthermore, you are responsible for preliminary reviews and compatibility studies in accordance with the Flora-Fauna-Habitat Directive and conduct screenings according to § 7 UVPG.

  • If necessary, you support with EIA reports, landscape management plans, and all other environmental planning.

Your Profile:

  • You have successfully laid your academic foundation with a relevant degree (Biology with a focus on Nature Conservation / Zoology / Ecology, Environmental and Landscape Planning, Geography, Geoecology, or comparable).

  • You bring at least four years of practical experience in nature and species protection; you are proficient in the FFH Directive and independently prepare environmental expert opinions.

  • You master faunistic mapping of birds, bats, reptiles, and amphibians, as well as planning-relevant insects (e.g., butterflies, dragonflies, grasshoppers); knowledge of other animal groups (fish, snails / mollusks, xylobiont beetles) or biotop mapping according to BayKompV is an advantage.

  • In projects, you take responsibility for budget and deadlines and reliably manage implementation.

  • You are proficient in using MS Office and GIS programs (QGIS, ArcGIS), work in a team-oriented manner, and communicate confidently and persuasively with clients.

  • You are motivated and flexible for regular fieldwork; you are mobile anyway and possess a Class B driver's license.
