You can learn a lot about a company's actual culture by looking at how they react when you find a way to make a process faster or automate a messy spreadsheet.

If a team gets defensive, micromanages your script, or immediately tries to double your workload just because you saved yourself a few hours of manual copy-pasting, it's a huge sign that they value busywork over actual efficiency. A good engineering or data culture will celebrate the fact that you killed a boring, repetitive task so you can focus on bigger problems. If a company treats automation like a threat to their control rather than a win for the project, it's a massive indicator that you'll end up completely burnt out running in circles.
