Summary
Join MOIA as a (Senior) Data Engineer in the Data Applications Platform team, focusing on building and operating core data platform applications like Airflow, QuickSight, and CubeJS. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining APIs and platform services on AWS, with a strong emphasis on automation and developer experience. You will collaborate with various teams to enable self-service data usage and contribute to a learning culture.
Join us as a (Senior) Data Engineer (all genders) in our Data Applications Platform team (parental leave cover for 12 months) and help shape the future of autonomous mobility!
The Data Applications Platform team is at the heart of MOIA’s data ecosystem. We build and operate the core applications and APIs that make data accessible, usable, and actionable across the company. Our mission is to empower over 25 teams to work independently and effectively with data by providing robust, scalable, and developer-friendly platforms.
We own and maintain key products like Airflow, QuickSight, Data Export API, and CubeJS. Our team focuses on automation, tooling, and application development on AWS to ensure that data at MOIA flows securely, reliably, and at scale.
What you will do
Build and operate core data platform applications such as Airflow, QuickSight, Data Export API, and CubeJS to enable self-service and scalable data usage across MOIA.
Design, implement, and maintain APIs and platform services, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and developer experience.
Develop and deploy serverless and containerized applications using AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, EKS, and S3.
Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code and ensure secure, scalable, and observable systems.
Collaborate with teams across multiple domains, helping them integrate with and build on top of the platform.
Contribute to our team’s learning culture by sharing knowledge, mentoring, and participating in learning days.
What will help you to fulfill your role
Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with Golang and OpenTofu/Terraform.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs and platform services in cloud-native environments.
Experience building and operating applications in cloud-native environments (preferably AWS).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK or Terraform).
Exposure to job orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or similar.
Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, scalability, CI/CD, and DevOps practices for operating data systems in production.
Excellent communication skills and a platform mindset, you enjoy enabling other teams and driving shared success.
You're curious and driven, to tackle data problems and take full ownership from idea to production.
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience with visualization tools such as QuickSight or similar.
Familiarity with observability practices (metrics, tracing, logging).
Experience with authentication and authorization for APIs.
Background in data products or platform engineering.
Experience with golang.
Understanding of modern API design principles and performance optimization.
